David's (Kansas') Page

Well folks, here it is, the page that is truly dedicated to yours truly, David. I really can't say my name is David since everyone I really know calls me Kansas, where I'm originally from. That's right folks, lets get it all out in the open, I was born in Overland Park, Kansas just 20 minutes away from Lawrence where I grew up and spent 18 years of my life.

I am here at UC San Diego paying out of state tuition because, well it was the best school out of all the ones I got into. I'll break it down for you folks since people usually ask me why I wound up at UCSD. Well After I had applied to a myriad of schools (read 7 here), I anxiously awaited the rejection or acceptance letters that would make huge changes in my life. Stanford University, my first choice, put my acceptance letter in the pile of the rejection letters, and I got one of those nasty letters by mistake. Oh well, I forgive them, I'm going there for law school, they owe me.

Anyway, the choices were down to Northwestern and UCSD, and I had the fortune to visit Northwestern on their admit day. Well, I discovered about 6 key reasons why I should not go to Northwestern, and instead journey to the sunny climate of San Diego for my schooling

  1. It rained, then snowed on me at Northwestern which really deterred me from going there. If it had done one, but not the other, I might have ended up attending. However, I came from the lands of the midwest where the weather is random & generally excessively cold in the winters.
  2. Everyone at Northwestern looked down at their feet when they were walking. I found this rather depressing, as no one smiled either. Not even the girls!
  3. There is no surfing at Northwestern.
  4. Northwestern's mascot is the Wildcat, and their school colors are purple and black. Incidentally, these are the same colors as the Kansas State Wildcats, the team that I most hate and despise since they are my Kansas University Jayhawk's in-state rival.
  5. UCSD had a better computer engineering program than did Northwestern.
  6. Lastly, and this is not the most important reason, but it certainly did play a factor, I made a judgment call that the women of San Diego were not only more attractive than those at Northwestern, but they were wearing less clothing because of the weather (not a reflection on themselves!).

Anyway, a little more about me now. I'm a sophomore now in the computer engineering program. After graduating I hope to become a lawyer and combine my two loves, my love of technology with my love of the courtroom. If all goes well, I'll be attending Stanford for grad school.

I really enjoy sports. In particular, basketball. I also like playing tennis, mountain biking, and paint balling (a sport? perhaps). I love to play the piano, and I'm working at improve jazz at the moment. I play the piano every day, usually around campus, so if you hear me playing, why not say hello? I try to go to Church on Sundays, and I'm a Christian, although I do not the right thing as often as I would like.
